History

Engineering Applications Pty Ltd (ENAP) was founded in 1979, by Merv Stephensen and Ken Madge who were long-term friends from their teenage years. Both had completed fitter and turner trade apprenticeships in separate areas and joined forces after Merv had completed his Associate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. This led to the creation of a mechanical design capability in ENAP, which is an emphasis that continues, and we believe is a key part of our success.

John Wildermoth joined ENAP in mid-1980’s and accepted an invitation to join the ENAP Partnership in 1987 that allowed the fabrication and installation capability to thrive. Lincoln Dirczke started as a boilermaker in early 1990’s, and became a partner in 2001 with further emphasis on stainless steel fabrication and installation work for food processing industry.

ENAP’s strong history as a family orientated business has continued with the sons of John Wildermoth and Merv Stephensen becoming owners of ENAP upon their father’s retirements in 2009 and 2013 respectively. Dean Wildermoth and Drew Stephensen both had extensive industry experience with Dean completing a fitter and turner apprenticeship at ENAP, and Drew working in a Project Coordinator role.

After starting in small workshop at Murrarie, ENAP purchased the land at Henricks Street in Hemmant and relocated in 1987. ENAP has continuously expanded on the Hemmant site to now work across four workshops, a Projects Office, Design and Administration Office, Central Store and 7600m2 of laydown area.

Today ENAP is a company that provides mechanical and structural engineering, construction, fabrication, installation and maintenance services directly employing approximately 200 people. ENAP aims to provide full time employment to our valued staff and provide ongoing training, development and career opportunities. ENAP does not use labour hire, instead having a fulltime Human Resources Coordinator, which has a heavy focus on recruitment of personnel for projects and on-going growth. We believe that this allows ENAP to be more selective in recruiting personnel not only with the right skills, but the right attitude to positively fit into our strong culture.

ENAP continues to provide a range of services focusing on core skills of structural, mechanical and piping works across variety of industries including manufacturing, mining and minerals processing, chemical, food processing and materials handling. ENAP’s mission is to Exceed Client’s Expectations with a focus on client service and satisfaction.
