SEQ Water – Abutment Access Upgrade

Description of ENAP’s Scope:

Engineering Applications Pty Ltd was appointed by SEQ Water as Principal Contractor for the design and construction management of the access improvements to be installed to the LHS Abutment Wall and Intake Shaft at Little Nerang Dam. In the early stages of the project ENAP was involved with preliminary design access solutions for Little Nerang Dam via the compilation of an Investigation Report and the corresponding preliminary design drawings of this project.  By doing so, this enabled ENAP to become familiar and aware of the final outcomes that were being sought by SEQ Water.

The existing access system on the LHS abutment that descends from the dam crest to the dam toe was identified as being non-compliant and unsafe and therefore required a refurbishment in order to ensure compliance and safe operation.  This was also identified and deemed required for the Intake Shaft that descends from the dam crest to the lower gallery inside the dam wall.  As a result, the following items were delivered successfully for SEQ Water:

  • LHS Abutment Stair Access System Refurbishment Works
    • Contractor documentation (Construction Management Plan)
    • Site inspection and site measure to confirm design
    • Detailed design and fabrication drawings
    • Material supply, off-site fabrication, hot dip galvanizing, and delivery to site
    • Site mobilisation and setup as Principal Contractor
    • Removal and disposal of old access system at upper section of wall
    • Supply and installation of new access system and upgrade to existing lower concrete stairs
    • Testing and commissioning
  • Intake Shaft Access Improvements including Valve Replacement Works
    • Contractor documentation (Construction Management Plan)
    • Site inspection and site measure to confirm design
